Winter in the Val di Fassa:

Sport and fun on the snow

The Dolomites in winter are an unforgettable experience and Canazei is their heart. Not only because of the dreamlike landscape and of the traditions, but also because the place is a paradise for winter sports par excellence. Here you can go skiing, have fun on the snowboard, go with the touring skis or snowshoes or keep fit on cross-country skis. In short, pure fun on the snow.

From our hotel you can reach four different ski circuits, four snowparks and nine ski resorts, all of them connected to each other.

From the Chalet Vites Mountain Hotel, you are only a few steps away from the new Funifor Alba-Col dei Rossi funicular, which allows you to enter the Four Dolomite Passes Tour called Sellaronda in the Dolomiti Superski ski region: you have access to 1200 kilometers of slopes in twelve Ski areas with a single ski pass. Dolomiti Superski is one of the best ski and mountain sports resorts. And if you prefer it a bit smaller and quieter, you can also try the Ciampac-Buffaure ski resort, not far from the hotel.

The Chalet-Vites-Package for the skiers

We understand well if you want to leave the heavy ski equipment at home. Ski, helmets and ski poles can be rented from our partner Northland Ski & Snowboard. Skis tours can be planed best with the services of the Hotel Skipass Service and Fly Ski Shuttle.
Because we also know that such a great choice can be a pain, we gladly give you some ski tips.
Our guests can also also be assisted by state-certified ski instructors if needed. These offer:

  • Private ski lessons for adults and children,
  • Guided whole-or half-day ski trips to the most beautiful places of the Dolomites,
  • Night skiing,
  • Technical tips and exercises including video analysis,
  • Private courses for those who want to make the preselection for ski instructor candidates.

This network increases the number of snowparks to 21, making it one of the largest freestyle networks in the world. No wonder there is something for everyone to discover and try out: from the beginner to the professional, from the half pipe to rails and kickers of all sizes.

There is hardly anything nicer than pulling its tracks through immaculate snowy surfaces. In Val di Fassa, the freeride lovers will get their money’s worth, there are countless tours and slopes. And if you want, you can get expert help with a ski guide. (Sport Check Point)

Ski tours

The original form of skiing celebrates an incredible comeback. More and more skiers are back on their skis with their skins to climb untouched slopes and draw their tracks in the snow. In Val di Fassa, too, innumerable ski tours lead through forests and meadows and pastures to the summits. The best way to explore them is with a guide. (Sport Check Point)

Night skiing in the Fassa Ski Stadium

Even at night, you can ski in Val di Fassa, in the Fassa ski stage on the Aloch slope.

Cross-country skiing

Val di Fassa is a cross-country paradise, with the Marcialonga, one of the most famous national cross-country races, leading through our valley. The legendary cross-country ski runs can be explored just like those at the Ciampac at 2000 meters above sea level.

Tour Safari

Whether on the slopes or off the beaten track: if you want to discover magical, untouched landscapes, this can be done with the tour safari – overnight stays in mountain huts included.

Ice climbing

Probably the most exciting form of climbing should be approached with experienced mountaineers.

The four ski circuits

Four Dolomite Passes Tour

The new Funifor Alba-Col dei Rossi cable car is just 150 meters from our hotel. It brings you up to ski resorts, which lead us on a unique round around the Sella group into all Ladin valleys: from Val di Fassa to Val Gardena (and to the Alpe di Siusi, from there to Val Badia, to Arabba (with a view of the Marmolata) and back to Fassa.

Skitour Panorama

With the Ciampac cable car, also only 150 meters from our hotel, you can go onto the ski tour Panorama. This ski circuit connects Alba di Canazei with the slopes of Pozza/Buffaure. Breathtaking are the two black pistes Ciampac and Vulcano, one of the most famous in the Dolomites. From here you continue to the Vigo di Fassa-Ciampedie ski resort. And if you want to keep it simple and relaxed, just stay at the Ciampac ski resort, which is also suitable for beginners and children.

First World War ski tour

This ski tourdoes not carry a martial name for nothing. In the First World War, the mountains, where we go for skiing pleasure today, were the scene of violent battles. Along the battle front on skis – always with a view of some of the most fascinating panoramas of the Dolomites: Civetta, Pelmo, Tofane, Lagazuoi, Conturines, Settsass, Sassongher, Sella, Marmolata.

Skitour Marmolada

With 3342 meters above the sea level, Marmolata is the queen of the Dolomites – and a popular ski resort, reached via Belvedere, Arabba, Porta Vescovo and Malga Ciapela. If you want to take an excursion through the history, you can also visit the World War Museum on the tour.

And because there is more than only skis, here is a selection of alternative (and relaxing) activities:

  • Dolaondes

Only recently, Canazei has opened a new aquatic world with six pools and a spectacular slide – here, both swimmers and adrenaline junkies get their money’s worth.

The new thermal center is only ten kilometers from Canazei and offers not less than 4300 square meters of water.

  • Ice skating

In the ice stadium, just 200 meters from our hotel, you can ice skate or enjoy a hockey match – with our HC Fassa, of course.
